I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that in order to do this I would need to rip the DSD signal from the disc and convert it to 16/44.1 wav files, which is the only file format the DR meter will accept -as far as I know! The vinyl is the best I've heard the album sound, with a significant increase in dynamics over the CD. I've uploaded the dynamic range data for both versions to the following page: That said, I've recently had the chance to compare the original UK CD release to the 2009 vinyl re-issue, and found the vinyl to be a big improvement over the CD. The US rock band Alice In Chains hired a new vocalist after the tragic death of Lain Staley and recorded the first in about fourteen years long-play Black Gives Way To Blue.
