I dual boot windows and Linux and have no problems at all in Linux so I know So for my system I use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, a decent 2 in 2 out audio interface. My Son is in a very good Rock/Metal Band who are currently without work because of isolation so we were going to do some live acoustic sets on you tube, to keep him sane.As a video editor and sound engineer, hearing and recording good quality audio is important.
Also I ran SFC and Scan Disk which both came back clean. In the past i have been careless with 3rd party software and I am now super careful as it takes me a full day to re-format windows and re install all my Music Programmes, so I am certain I have done nothing to cause this. I am assuming this might be the issue but have no idea how to solve it. Also in events there is a message about something needed to complete installing please see attached screenshots. I am not certain but I am fairly sure it was not there before. I looked at properties in settings for Mic/Inst line input and there is a message "Jack Information", followed by, "There is no Jack information". This is strange because it was working 2 weeks ago, so something recent has changed. I tried both condenser and dynamic with and without phantom power, also changed leads 4 times, but nothing.
It still works fine with an Instrument, Guitar e.t.c.
However I attempted to make my first live stream on you tube this morning only to discover, there is no signal from my Mic/Inst line in on either input of my interface, when plugging in a microphone. I use an external interface made by Presonus. I am an intermediate mix engineer with a home studio set-up and use my PC mostly for this purpose. I have encountered an issue today for the first time in at least a year, which is cool but needs fixing never the less.
